Abandoned Cities is an omnious, dark work, consisting of two, aproximately 20 minute pieces. Both consist of long, droning, occasionally bell like tones, over which Harold Budd plays some of his sparest piano lines.
The guitar is much more present on "Dark Star" with hard, low, overdriven chords strummed throughout the work.
Abandonded Cities shares both it's tone and length with "Gypsy Violin" on Lovely Thunder.
