Grant Avenue Studio, Old Rugged Cross, Hamilton Ontario 1980

Original release - 1980

Direct, innocent, and quiet, the Plateaux of Mirror marks the first musical collaboration between Budd and Eno. For most of the tracks, Eno would create a sound treatment and Budd would play a live improvisation. Often, Budd would work within Eno's set-ups, uncovering how to manipulate each treatment as he played.

The work here is highly impressionistic, considered by many to be a masterwork in ambient music.

Harold Budd's linar notes for the 1991 CD release state the titles were all done in one marathon evening at his home near the Mojave Dessert. Presumable the studio work at Grant Avenue consisted of mix down and production, rather than recording.
