Solaris (LIVE)

Liner Notes:

Legendary bass player Jah Wobble (ex P.I.L and who still fronts the Invaders of the Heart) first met pianist / composer Harold Budd, a defining musician in the style that has become known as ambient minimalism, a couple of years ago. It was when Harold performed briefly with Jah's Deep Space project that the idea for Solaris was born. The line-up for this extraordinary  project includes Jski Leibezeit, drummer from the seminal experimental rock band Can and rising cornet player Graham Haynes, who is attracting praise and attention for his own work, after having come to prominence with artists like Roots, David Murray and Steve Coleman. Bill Laswell (on bass and electronics) has mapped a huge segment of US music for the alternative generation, through his expansive playing and production with virtually everyone fro, William Burroughs and Herbie Hancock to Laurie Anderson, Talvin Singh and John Zorn

The approach taken to the performance is "holy minimalist" weaving textures of jazz, world and dub in a largely modal soundscape.
